Looking for a unique bar and restaurant off the Las Vegas Strip? Christina shares with you her Top 7 Hidden Las Vegas Local Favorites. These unique local bars and restaurants each have something special, from live music to hidden entrances.
Hidden in downtown Las Vegas this country-chic horse trailer bar was established in 2018. They serve delicious cocktails, wines and beers influenced with local ingredients. Also, all of their products are fully compostable down to the hay straws so good for the environment as well as delicious.
Velveteen Rabbit is located downtown in the arts district and from the street you can’t see inside. It’s just a black wall and honestly the first time I came here I had trouble finding the door in the dark. But inside in the dim lighting it’s a whole different world! The decor is very eclectic and there is vintage furniture everywhere. They also feature local artists.
But the best part is the variety of cocktails. They change up the menu seasonally so you can always try something different. The bartenders are so great and will also make you something different if you ask. They have happy hour 5-7pm daily and are open until 12 on Sundays, 1am Tuesday and Wednesday and 2 am every other day.
Sand Dollar Lounge is located on Spring Mountain road just minutes west of the strip. It has been around since 1976 and has hosted live performers from iconic bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Fishbone and many more as well as plenty of local talent.
Although it hosts such amazing performers, Sand Dollar is not a huge venue. In fact, it is an unassuming building with a small stage but plenty of bar seating as well as tables throughout where people can come in and enjoy the live music, original cocktails, and pizza.
It is usually filled with Vegas locals who can come by after working many different shift times as it is open most days from 4pm til 4am and has reasonably priced cocktails for just $12.
This unique spot is tucked away on Sammy Davis Junior Drive-a small dark building that could easily be missed passing by. But once you are inside it’s a whole other story! You go thru a dim hallway with led strip lights and then enter into a chic open room with a beautiful bar and a small stage with a piano.
They host live musicians, burlesque performers, and dueling pianos. And offer Delicious specialty cocktails, and a variety of wines and bubbles. Definitely one of my favorite chill spots.
The Golden Tiki on Spring Mountain road is a favorite among locals and is one of the most unique Las Vegas bars. They are open 24 hours, and have tons of options for yummy drinks. Happy hour is every day from 4-7 pm. They have brunch every Sunday from 12-3pm and island-inspired food menu as well! They also have live DJs. A fun party away from the strip any time of day!
This hidden gem is in a strip mall on Durango and Flamingo in Southwest Vegas. You would never know from the outside but it’s a really cool little restaurant with fun marine-style decor and incredible food!
Other Mama was opened by award-winning chef Daniel Krohmer and they have an amazing variety of sushi and other items from the raw bar as well as some really fun unique cocktails. They’re open Tuesday thru Sunday from 5-10 pm
Ok, I just love this spot. Herbs and Rye is located on Sahara just 10 west of the strip. It has a speakeasy-type feel. The exterior is a dark building…very unassuming. But inside are leather couches, dark wallpaper, and dim lighting-creating a very intimate feeling.
Herbs and Rye calls themselves a steakhouse. They say “we make pretty good steaks and really good cocktails” but they have lots of options. I don’t eat steak and they have plenty of delicious vegetarian options as well and the cocktails are amazing–especially any cocktails with whiskey in them. Open Monday thru Saturday 5 pm- 3 am
